Odissi

Odissi, also known as Orissi is one of the eight classical dance forms of India. It originates from the state of Orissa, in eastern India. It is the oldest surviving dance form of India on the basis of archaeological evidences.It is particularly distinguished from other classical Indian dance forms by the importance it places upon the Tribhangi (literally: three parts break), the independent movement of head, chest and pelvis and upon the basic square stance known as Chauka or Chouka that symbolizes Lord Jagannath. This dance is characterized by various Bhangas.which involves stamping of the foot and striking various postures as seen in Indian sculptures. The common Bhangas are Bhanga, Abanga, Atibhanga and Tribhanga.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I performed at Global Indian Festival 2012..... I have some pictures for you.....Oh ... I just remembered ... I have even got photos from the Nachniya dance too.

We danced for an Orissa folk dance called Nachniya.Nachniya is the folk dance of the Sambalpur women with their handkerchiefs. It is a highly, energetic, fun filled dance.

Family Trip To Hong Kong Disneyland

Got up as early as 4:00 am

taxi arrived at 6:00 am
Flight was at 8:30 am

Dad made us waste our lovely Delifrance breakfast to catch the plane :(

In the flight I had an omelet and sausage for lunch

Then I watched Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked

For dessert I had Magnum Chocolate and Vanilla Ice-cream

It was an awesome flight to Hong Kong

Arrived at Hong Kong Disneyland

There are 2 Hotels at Hong Kong Disneyland:

Disneyland Hotel ( looks like a castle ) and Disney Hollywood hotel ( You'll get the idea )

We arrived at the wrong hotel....as the booking was for Hollywood Hotel.

Although we did not stay at Disneyland Hotel we still took some pictures of the hotel.

Both Hotels are beautiful.

We could not stay here all day so we went to the Hollywood hotel

I was excited so I walked further...... Guess what we saw... Old Classic Cars !!!!

Next we decided to go to our room...... thank god there's 4 of us because this room is HUGE!!!

Best part is that we can view the fireworks from our bedroom...we can listen to music according to the fireworks.

Here we are at Disneyland.

Disneyland is one best place to travel with people with disabilities. My Lil sister Ivanna is 8years old diagnosed with cerebral palsy (unable to walk). She could freely enjoy the theme park without missing out on any rides. The theme park staff were so helpful ...they even stop certain moving objects for Ivanna to get into it. ...  OH  ya ! even the Hotel staff made arrangement for a special shutter bus service from the Hotel to the theme park JUST FOR OUR FAMILY.   At the theme park we did not have to wait in long queue. Its really a disable friendly place . Marvellous!

While I was Gone ...

Hey guys.... Sorry for being gone for sooooo long. Apparently my sister had changed my password again, therefore I could not log into my blog .
While I was gone a few things happened ....

On my last school holiday... we went to Hong Kong Disneyland..... awesome trip,  I'll tell you more about my trip in another post.
As you know from my earlier updates on my blog, I was learning a classical dance called Odissi at Temple Of Fine Arts (TFA), But now I have moved to Geetha Shankaran Dance ( GSD) at Bangsar. My teacher, Mrs. Geetha Shankaran Lam was the Head of Odissi Department at TFA for 20 years. She is a fantastic teacher.... I had my first performance under GSD for PIO fest (People of Indian Origin Festival ) at Batu Caves. We danced for an Orissa folk dance called Nachniya. Our dearest teacher Geetha taught us the dance in Just 10 Classes. Believe it or not our teacher is so relaxed in teaching us..... the clowns. Mrs Geetha is an encouraging teacher .

Now we have an upcoming performance for Odissi. We are performing for Global Indian Festival at
Mid Valley Mega Mall , Exhibition hall , at around 7 :30. Feel free to come and watch .

I had a dance competition on the last day of  school.. Our group ( Sunflower ) got second place with practice in one day , amazing right ? Thanks to the seniors who taught us juniors the HIP HOP moves. Comment if you think its amazing.

Finally , My dad is going to making me exercise !!!! AHHHHH!
I will write to you  how my exercising and other stuff are going.
